According to our latest figures there are currently 182,925 companies trading in Ireland with a status of "normal" - over 14,500 of these were formed this year.
Company start-ups recorded between January and November 2013 were the highest we seen in that period since before the recession.
14,342 company start-ups were incorporated during the first 11 months of this year - 9% up on the same period in 2012 - this is highest figure we've seen since 2007 when 17,684 companies were set up.
The majority of start-ups this year were in the following sectors - professional services (26%), wholesale & retail (12%), social & personal services (9%), IT (8%) and hospitality (7%).
12,147 companies ceased trading and were closed between January and November this year - that figure is down slightly on 2012's figure (12,347).
